Betula nigra ‘Dickinson’ (RFM-43) Northern Tribue™

An outstanding landscape specimen with its upright rounded habit and ivory bark exfoliating to copper-bronze. Northern Tribute® has shown superior adaptability to stresses of the Upper Midwest and Northern Plains. It has shown no signs of winter injury or iron chlorosis in alkaline soils and has performed well in compacted, dry soils, which is extremely atypical of the species and other selected cultivars.

Syringa hyacinthiflora ‘Pocahontas’

Flowers bloom on the reddish purple, and open into a violet. For most of the season it provides healthy green foliage. Then foliage turns into a yellow-red color before falling.

Eric Welzel sent this plant to us. He said we really needed to propagate ‘Sister Justina’ because it just wasn’t available and is an exceptional lilac. This is a compact, fragrant, heavy blooming single white lilac (Skinner 1956).

Syringa reticulata ‘Ivory Silk’

Showy, fragrant, creamy-white flowers are produced in July when few other plants have a display. ‘Ivory Silk’ is more upright (25′) and narrower than seedling tree lilacs.

A medium sized, multi-stemmed, shrub that grows to around 6′ tall and wide. A single flowers on 8-10″ long panicles. Flowers are deep violet with a silver reverse.

The semi-double flowers are rose-lavender in bud and the large multi-petaled florets are a lovely mixture of orchid, rose and violet. Since flowers do not all open at once, each cluster has the entire complement of colors. Flowers are also very fragrant. 8’ high x 8’ wide at 10 years.

Named for the father of landscape architecture. This is a single white, very precocious lilac. While individual flowers are small, the plant more than makes up by the sheer number of trusses produced. Plant habit remains compact, a trait that makes it easily identified.

This cultivar displays single, large, wisteria- type panieles. The name is from the blue bankground of the fine English pottery of Josiah Wedwood. Growth is upright and foliage is disease resistant.

Syringa vulgaris ‘Wonderblue’ (AKA: Little Boy Blue)

A single flowered lilac of a special blue color. This nearly dwarf plant has mature height of 4 to 5′. Fr. Fiala wanted this plant called Little Boy Blue but the International Lilac Registrar denied the name. For years we have listed this plant as Little Boy Blue but in fact it was registered as ‘Wonderblue’. One of the best lilacs for a container.

A medium sized, multi-stemmed, upright shrub. It grows to around 6′ tall and wide. Sports double, creamy white flowers on 8-10″ long.

Syringa x chinensis ‘Lilac Sunday’

Selected and introduced by the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, this is a graceful, broad spreading lilac with delicate and more profuse flowers than most Chinese Lilacs. Flowers are very fragrant and produced at every terminal so they can be enjoyed by everyone short and tall.

Ulmus ‘Morton Glossy’ Triumph™

The TRIUMPH™ elm has very good resistance to Dutch elm disease (DED) and to elm yellows; it also has good resistance to elm leaf beetle. It is easily transplanted, quick to establish, and adaptable to most soil types. Large, lustrous, dark green summer foliage gives way to yellow fall color. Useful for home and commercial landscapes or parks or as street tree.

Ulmus parvifolia ‘Emer II’ Allee™

ALLEE is a cultivar that typically matures over time to 60-70′ tall and to 35-55′ wide. It resembles American elm (Ulmus americana) with its vase shaped growing habit. ALLEE was cloned from a tree growing at the University of Georgia campus at Athens. It is noted for its fluted trunk, exfoliating bark (shades of grays, gray greens and orange-browns), narrow leaves and resistance to the common pests and diseases of elm trees. It reportedly has excellent resistance to Dutch elm disease and elm leaf beetle. ALLEE has excellent resistance to Dutch elm disease and elm leaf beetle. It also has excellent resistance to leaf scorch, dieback symptoms and cold winter weather.
