A ChokeBerry with a very heavy production of berries. The fruits ripen simultaneously on the plant, which is suitable for mechanical harvesting. Its fruit is slightly larger than Viking.
A chokeberry with beautiful, small, white flowers cover this plant in the spring. Glossy violet-black berries hang on the plant in the summer and fall.

A vigorous, fast-growing, medium-sized tree which can be grown as either a single trunk or multi-stemmed tree and features coral-cream to brownish bark which peals to reveal a creamy white inner bark that can be nearly as white as the white-barked birches.

An outstanding landscape specimen with its upright rounded habit and ivory bark exfoliating to copper-bronze. Northern Tribute® has shown superior adaptability to stresses of the Upper Midwest and Northern Plains. It has shown no signs of winter injury or iron chlorosis in alkaline soils and has performed well in compacted, dry soils, which is extremely atypical of the species and other selected cultivars.

We isolated from the original bronze birch borer resistant plant in the U.W. Arboretum and not from a seedling. The plant has broad pyramidal form, early white bark, lovely yellow fall color and is a vigorous grower when young.
A paper birch with exceptional snow-white exfoliating bark, quality dark green foliage and excellent golden-yellow autumn foliage coloration. Superior adaptation and stress tolerance are valuable attributes of this cultivar. Resistant to bronze birch borer attack since 1975 in evaluations. Must be licensed with NDSU.

Lovely and delicate light pink clusters of bell-like flowers in spring make this a show-stopping tree. The inch and one half long, 4-winged fruits can also add year-round interest. Our fully hardy parent plant is in the U.W. Arboretum, the tree is multi-stemmed and 15 to 20 feet tall.
Hydrangea Tuxedo has a lovely dark purple/black flushed foliage especially in the cooler climates. The flowers appear in early spring, covering most of the plant which is itself mounded and compact.

Oakleaf’ Vaughn’s Lillie™ has an upright, broadly rounded growth habit but it is compact due to the shortened internodes. This plant will be 4 high and 5 wide at 10 years of age. The large conical flowers have showy white sepals and are produced from June through September. Fall foliage turns a spectacular plum wine color. Upright European Aspen Narrow, fastigiated tree, originally from the forests of Sweden. KHNs selection is from specimens in the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. This cultivar is adapted to the colder climates in the mid and northern U.S and hardy to zone 2. Mature height is 40 with a 10 spread. Seedless.

Brandywine is hybrid cross between a red raspberry and a black raspberry, making it perfect for jam, pies & wines. The purple berry color changes to vibrant red when baked.
An early blooming hybrid producing fragrant individual white flowers. Its height is about 8′ by about 10′ wide.
Flowers bloom on the reddish purple, and open into a violet. For most of the season it provides healthy green foliage. Then foliage turns into a yellow-red color before falling.
Eric Welzel sent this plant to us. He said we really needed to propagate ‘Sister Justina’ because it just wasn’t available and is an exceptional lilac. This is a compact, fragrant, heavy blooming single white lilac (Skinner 1956).
A small tree with showy creamy white blossoms and very showy coppery-orange exfoliating bark. Grown either as a single or multi-trunked tree. Cold-tolerant and able to withstand urban environments (soils and pollution) make this an excellent tree for a variety of landscape uses.
An introduction through the Chicagoland Grows™ program. A tree lilac but finer textured than a Japanese Tree Lilac. ‘China Snow’ has creamy white, fragrant flowers and beautiful cinnamon colored exfoliating bark.

Showy, fragrant, creamy-white flowers are produced in July when few other plants have a display. ‘Ivory Silk’ is more upright (25′) and narrower than seedling tree lilacs.
The semi-double flowers are rose-lavender in bud and the large multi-petaled florets are a lovely mixture of orchid, rose and violet. Since flowers do not all open at once, each cluster has the entire complement of colors. Flowers are also very fragrant. 8’ high x 8’ wide at 10 years.
This is a very showy, large flowered, single white lilac as the name indicates. The florets are accented with a yellow center. Growth habit is upright (9′); foliage is dark green and flowers are lightly fragrant.
Pure white large double flowers contrast beautifully with soft pink bud. Outstanding fragrance and weather resistance with vigorous upright growth. Flowers grow on dense large trusses.
Dark reddish-purple, fragrant flowers and very clean foliage in traditional growing areas.
Named for the father of landscape architecture. This is a single white, very precocious lilac. While individual flowers are small, the plant more than makes up by the sheer number of trusses produced. Plant habit remains compact, a trait that makes it easily identified.
This is a small stature (5′) lilac. It is a true pink, almost a shrimp pink with single multi-petaled flowers and very fragrant. This is one of my personal favorites, an outstanding lilac!
An outstanding showy red to purple lilac.
The flowers are pure white, fully double (hose-in-hose) and fragrant. A very vigorous grower, this is an important trait for a white lilac. Father Fiala described this lilac as “very fine and showy”.
Double magenta mid-season.
An extremely heavy bloomer, the flowers are fragrant and a double magenta.
For many years this lilac was considered the bluest lilac.
A white flowering lilac with doubling florets on some. Has the fragrance come to expect from (Syringa vulgaris) and has an established dramatic flare.
A fragrant S. x hyacinthaflora sometimes mislabeled as the cultivar ‘Eventide’. The fragrant flowers are a single dark violet color, new foliage growth has a lovely bronze color, a wonderful fall color.
This cultivar displays single, large, wisteria- type panieles. The name is from the blue bankground of the fine English pottery of Josiah Wedwood. Growth is upright and foliage is disease resistant.
Very large dark purple single flowers and the suggestion of a somewhat more compact growth habit. Perhaps Fr. Fialas finest dark purple, this lilac is a real showstopper.
A single flowered lilac of a special blue color. This nearly dwarf plant has mature height of 4 to 5′. Fr. Fiala wanted this plant called Little Boy Blue but the International Lilac Registrar denied the name. For years we have listed this plant as Little Boy Blue but in fact it was registered as ‘Wonderblue’. One of the best lilacs for a container.
A medium sized, multi-stemmed, upright shrub. It grows to around 6′ tall and wide. Sports double, creamy white flowers on 8-10″ long.
Selected and introduced by the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, this is a graceful, broad spreading lilac with delicate and more profuse flowers than most Chinese Lilacs. Flowers are very fragrant and produced at every terminal so they can be enjoyed by everyone short and tall.
‘Frontier’ hybrid elm combines a high level of tolerance to Dutch elm disease, moderate resistance to elm leaf beetle, small leaves, and a lovely red-purple autumn coloration.

The TRIUMPH™ elm has very good resistance to Dutch elm disease (DED) and to elm yellows; it also has good resistance to elm leaf beetle. It is easily transplanted, quick to establish, and adaptable to most soil types. Large, lustrous, dark green summer foliage gives way to yellow fall color. Useful for home and commercial landscapes or parks or as street tree.

A very hardy small to medium sized growing elm with a rounded crown, open branching, and attractive summer and fall foliage. Fall foliage changes from green to apricot-orange to burgundy-red before leaf drop. Size and form permit use in smaller homeowner and business landscapes, parks, and boulevard plantings.

ALLEE is a cultivar that typically matures over time to 60-70′ tall and to 35-55′ wide. It resembles American elm (Ulmus americana) with its vase shaped growing habit. ALLEE was cloned from a tree growing at the University of Georgia campus at Athens. It is noted for its fluted trunk, exfoliating bark (shades of grays, gray greens and orange-browns), narrow leaves and resistance to the common pests and diseases of elm trees. It reportedly has excellent resistance to Dutch elm disease and elm leaf beetle. ALLEE has excellent resistance to Dutch elm disease and elm leaf beetle. It also has excellent resistance to leaf scorch, dieback symptoms and cold winter weather.
